Have you ever wondered how rollback netcode works or what challenges are faced by integrating it within Unreal Engine? Look no further! In this episode, I go over the basics of rollback netcode, the necessity of determinism, and the challenges of utilizing it in Unreal Engine. Rollback netcode is a form of networking (online play) that focuses on low latency and smooth gameplay (regardless of connection strength). GGPO (Good Game Peace Out) is a software development kit (SDK) that was created with the intention of making implementing rollback netcode as easy as possible. Unreal Engine does not support rollback by default, making it a pain to implement in UE4 and UE5 projects. GGPO can make this process easier, and others have implemented versions of GGPO that work in Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. Thanks for watching my video.
