Flexbox is CSS layout module that simplifies creating rows, columns and managing content alignment. To apply space between flex rows and flex columns I have been using simple CSS margins. But, browser support for CSS flexbox is improving. We have gap CSS property for CSS Flexbox and CSS Gid. It sets the gaps between rows and columns. It is a shorthand for row-gap and column-gap. Gap provides better way to implement breaks between rows and columns. We can use gap, row-gap, and column-gap to create space in layouts created with Grid, Flexbox and Multi-column Layouts. I have two rows and few columns inside these. To distinguish different areas I will use background colors. Now if we use margins for columns it requires extra space. Instead of 10px gap in between columns, now there is 20px space. It may be fine but it's not ideal. We should define gap for flex row. So inside flex row, we use row gap and column gap CSS properties. Row gap is gap between rows. Columns that were in same row but were shifted into next row due to less horizontal space make another row. So gap is inside gap between rows and columns. We can combine row gap and columns gap by only using shorthand gap CSS property. First value is for row gap and second value is for column gap. Now gap or spaces inside flex are perfect. But we need space between each flex-row and between container and row. To apply that we can add padding top for flex row and padding bottom for the container. I was using 10px gaps so I have used 10px paddings. Now this is perfect CSS gap example. Margin will not be suitable to use with flexbox. Use gap CSS property with flexbox. There may be space difference for container at left and right side. That is because bootstrap padding for container is different. We can customize that for our example. We will change padding for container class and this will be fit for us. Now you can see same spaces inside and outside for whole flexbox area that we have created.
