OTA updates make ESP32 projects more flexible—but they also remove access to the Serial Monitor. In this tutorial, I show how to restore remote debugging using a Telnet connection. We begin by redirecting Serial output to both Serial and Telnet using a custom logging function. Then we extend the concept to interactive control by accepting commands over Telnet. The example includes time queries, forced time synchronization, uptime reporting, and remote rebooting. All communication happens wirelessly, even when the board is powered from a wall adapter or power bank. I demonstrate connections from both a PC and a mobile phone. This approach turns Telnet into a lightweight remote console for ESP32 development.
